Executive and Leadership Coaching

We partner with senior leaders to make progress in areas that matter to them, their stakeholders and the  organisation.

We work on assignments with individual leaders, and on programmes for communities of leaders in organisations looking to strengthen leadership capability and capacity at scale.

What Coaching Means To Us

For us, Executive Coaching is a partnership that enables leaders to:

  • Make progress towards outcomes important to them, their stakeholders and the business
  • Raise awareness of self and others to gain new insights and perspectives on situations
  • Work through live leadership challenges and opportunities in confidence
  • Further clarify and align their purpose, identity and success measures

It involves us partnering with leaders to facilitate thinking, learning, and sense-making using non-directive questions, listening and feedback. Your coach may at times also offer tools, models, practices, or theories that support you to achieve your outcomes or fuel of your thinking.

When Do We Partner with Clients?

At key transition or business inflection points

We work with leaders stepping into bigger roles - Partner, Director, or Exec roles - or navigating key business inflection points, such as rapid growth, M&A integration or transformation projects. In these moments, expectations are typically shifting - prompting the leader to rethink how they lead, where they add value, and the assumptions, habits and beliefs that have served them well up until this point.

A context of change, ambiguity or complexity

We also work with leaders operating in complex, fast-paced environments where decisions can feel high-stakes, and there is rarely a single “right” answer, or way to lead.  We support them to stay anchored in what matters, make sense of evolving situations, and move things forward without relying on simple or single, final answers.

Leaders looking to broaden their impact and strengthen stakeholder relationships

Many of the leaders we work with are looking to extend their impact and strengthen relationships across teams, functions, organisations and with external partners. This may include improving their ability to influence, taking a more strategic view, adapting communication or raising awareness of how their approach is landing with others - often unintentionally - so they can adapt.

Leaders who want time and space to work through live challenges

Leaders also call on our support for dedicated time to work through live challenges and opportunities - to test their thinking and sense-making from different angles and to move priorities forward in a way that works for them, the business and key stakeholders.

What it’s Like to Be Coached by Us

Trusted and confidential partnership

We create safe spaces for leaders to talk openly about what they’re facing - exploring strategic, operational and people challenges in confidence. We agree a balance of support and challenge: creating space for reflection, while stretching thinking, questioning assumptions and considering different perspectives.

Understanding of context and credible with leaders

Clients consistently tell us we get to grips with their context quickly – drawing on our own leadership and business experience, as well as our work with leaders and  teams from a range of organisations and contexts.

Practical, grounded and focused on real work

We work with clients’ live scenarios – rather than in abstract or theoretical situations – supporting them to translate their insights into immediate practical action and longer-term commitments.

Raising awareness to increase choice

We support leaders to see their situation, behaviours and patterns more clearly, so they can make more intentional and informed choices about how to respond and lead in critical moments.

Supporting lasting change, with a clear focus on outcomes and impact

We focus on what clients want to be different after the coaching ends, defining what success looks like up-front and reviewing progress over time so the coaching delivers meaningful, measurable impact over the longer-term – for both the coachee and the organisation.

Client Testimonials

Before coaching I was a little sceptical about the impact it might have. However, I can honestly say it has been really valuable. The impact on me, the team and ultimately the firm has been very positive and this has been shown in all the metrics we tracked.

Personal development comes from when you are really made to reflect and consider your own practice. Fantastic questioning, probing deeper into experiences and offering enough theory to push thinking has been invaluable in developing my leadership skills. The coaching is challenging whilst being incredibly supportive and has developed my own self-belief.

Coaching has been really helpful and enabled me to step back from the day-to-day and identify and focus on key objectives in this next phase of growth of the company. It’s been particularly useful to have confidential conversations with someone who asks thought-provoking questions, listens objectively and provides a healthy mix of challenge and support for my thinking.

Working with my Executive Coach has been a very useful experience. Their guidance has helped me think through the complex changes I am facing during the next step in my career. It has helped provide me with greater clarity and confidence to achieve my professional goals. Through insightful questioning and conversations, I’ve developed a deeper understanding of my strengths and areas for growth. I highly recommend executive coaching to anyone committed to developing themselves and who may need support in their career.

As a 'first timer' to coaching I didn't know what to expect. My coach was extremely professional throughout and helped me look at scenarios or challenges through a new perspective. The tools, actions and insights shared throughout the sessions have helped me develop new and strengthen existing skills which I regularly apply in my day to day role. Thanks again for your support throughout!

Executive coaching has provided a valuable space for reflection that has supported and challenged me to shift perspective, remain outcome focussed and notice my own beliefs and patterns. As a result I make more conscious choices about how I lead and respond and feel more aware of my strengths and how these energise and support me to achieve the goals and outcomes I set myself.

This has proven to be one of the most valuable personal development experiences of my career. I had forgotten how to invest my own development or recognise the importance of doing so.

Coaching helped me to create that burning platform to realise the changes I needed to succeed. My coach was an excellent listener who brought challenge and accountability to the sessions in a calm and measured manner. I felt at ease but also motivated and inspired to actively pursue my goals. I have no hesitation in recommending Sweetmans and Partners.

The coaching gave me an excellent opportunity to discuss, and make progress, on live leadership challenges I was facing whilst moving into a more senior role. My coach was excellent at supporting me to find ways forward on the questions I brought to the table, and ensuring I reached conclusions and actions, which he then helped formalise through follow-up.
